The non-conductive electrical property and the hydrophobic nature of polybutenes make them ideally suited for a variety of electrical insulation applications.

 

Very low chloride content and the unique chemical structure with very little trace or nil impurities offer very high level of oxidative stability and resistance to oxidation and gas evolution under electrical stress.

 

The wide range of viscosity of KVIS polybutenes grades enables the manufacturer to match their application needs without further blending, unlike mineral oils.

 

Application of polybutenes in electrical / fibre optic cables include impregnants for dielectrics, cable oils, gels and potting compounds, flooding and filling compounds for copper and fibre-optic cables.

 

Butyl rubber plasticised with polybutene can also be used as an electrical insulator when combined with a halogenated flame retardant.
